Notes to Dearie, 31 July, 2020

31 July, 2020Uptown Village, Vancouver, Washington HAPPY FRIDAY, HUMANS! With so much anxiety, tension, and conflict in the world right now, I’ve decided to play a wee game and scatter some optimism for people to discover. Today’s note for ‘Dearie’ offers a simple reminder that it’s important to regard ourselves with a little grace and patience, and give ourselves credit when it’s due. We can so easily become hyper-focused on how we think we’re being perceived by others, that we forget a rather obvious truth about being alive: The longest… Read more Notes to Dearie, 31 July, 2020

30 July, 2020Somewhere in Vancouver, Washington HAPPY THURSDAY, HUMANS! With so much anxiety, tension, and conflict in the world right now, I’ve decided to play a wee game and scatter some optimism for people to discover. Today I spent some time in the Uptown Vancouver area, scattering some notes for ‘Dearie’. As always, I have no idea who might find these notes, but I am hoping Serendipity will help me share these words with someone who needs them. Today’s note for ‘Dearie’ offers a simple reminder that your tribe is… Read more Notes to Dearie, 30 July, 2020

29 July, 2020Vancouver Waterfront Park HAPPY WEDNESDAY, HUMANS! With so much anxiety, tension, and conflict in the world right now, I’ve decided to play a wee game and scatter some optimism for people to discover. I love walking along the river around sunset, or a bit afterward as the evening begins cooling down. With all its new construction, tasting rooms and restaurants, the newer section of the Vancouver Waterfront is certainly a good opportunity to observe people, and study how humans engage with one another, so it seemed an excellent… Read more Notes to Dearie, 29 July 2020

28 July, 2020Esther Short Park, Vancouver, Washington HAPPY TUESDAY, HUMANS! This is my favorite sculpture in a popular park in downtown Vancouver, so I hid a note for ‘Dearie’ there. The sculpture is separate pieces, interacting together to form one piece of art. A little girl with a bouquet is extending a flower to a man sitting on a park bench, with his newspaper. The story is open to interpretation, but what is clear is the connection and smile shared between them. Something in this interaction seems essentially kind. Kindness… Read more Notes to Dearie, 28 July, 2020

26 July, 2020Somewhere in Portland, Oregon HAPPY SUNDAY, HUMANS! With so much anxiety, tension, and conflict in the world right now, I’ve decided to play a wee game and scatter some optimism for people to discover. So, if you find a note to ‘Dearie’, that’s from me. I hid this little message somewhere in Portland, Oregon. A teakettle can only take the heat for so long before the steam needs a place to go. So I hope you’ll be gentle with yourselves and each other this weekend. This note offers… Read more Notes to Dearie, 26 July, 2020

Notes to Dearie, 25 July, 2020

25 July, 2020Somewhere in Vancouver, Washington HAPPY SATURDAY, HUMANS! As you know, with so much anxiety, tension, and conflict in the world right now, I’ve decided to play a wee game and scatter some optimism for people to discover, if they’re paying attention. I decided to hide today’s note for ‘Dearie’ in Vancouver, Washington. My seemingly contented and stately frog friend seemed the best messenger for this one… And, upon circling back, I think someone has already found and claimed it. I wonder who found it and how they reacted,… Read more Notes to Dearie, 25 July, 2020

Notes to Dearie, 24 July, 2020

24 July, 2020Somewhere at Hug Point Beach, Oregon I decided it would be good to tuck this little note for Dearie by the sea! I hid this jar on a sandy shelf of a beautiful, jagged and hulking rock in the surf. I spent most of the day on the seashore, enjoying a little fire on the beach, and letting my thoughts drift out over the ocean… And, unbeknownst to them, I loved watching group after group of passersby discover and puzzle over the wee jar with the words in… Read more Notes to Dearie, 24 July, 2020

23 July, 2020Somewhere in Portland, Oregon One of my favorite bookshops seems to be paused during this challenging Covid-19 time, so it seemed a good spot to tuck today’s Note to Dearie… I wonder if anyone will find it!-J.P.Instagram @JeffreyPuukka#NotestoDearie
